Calling All Weekend Warriors!!
Published February 18, 2012 Treasures for your Travels , Treasures From The Shop Leave a CommentTags: "Annie's Blue Ribbon General Store", "New york times 36 hours", "stephen fry's america", "Travel ideas"
I’m majorly in love with this cool new book, New York Times, 36 Hours: 150 Weekends in the USA & Canada. Maybe it’s all the travel-related television I’ve been watching lately (check out Stephen Fry’s America for an outsider’s perspective on all 50 states and some pretty off-the-beaten-path destinations) or perhaps it’s the sneak peak at spring we’ve been getting. This book makes me long to plan some weekend escapes. The popular New York Times 36 Hours column is finally in book form, creating a comprehensive guide to weekend travel destinations throughout Canada and the US. Each location is detailed with color photographs and a map of the area. With color-coded tabs and ribbon bookmarks, you can easily explore the more than 600 restaurants and 450 hotels. It makes a gorgeous coffee table book, but the soft fabric cover also makes it fairly lightweight to bring along with you. Get planning! New York Times, 36 Hours: 150 Weekends in the USA & Canada- $39.99.

New S’Well Water Bottles are in!!

And bigger than ever! We are watter bottle junkies here (as well as Japanese Quince junkies, and Pantone junkies, etc.). It’s probably wrong to love inanimate objects as much as we do here, but I can live with that. And the S’Well water bottles aren’t just beautifully designed and fantastically functional (on a side note, a customer recently told me she left her S’Well bottle in a hot car all day, but the water remained cool and refreshing!) but also benefit a worthy cause. 10% of profits go to WaterAid, which provides clean drinking water to the world’s poorest countries.
But you’ve heard all of this before! Why are we telling you again? Because now the swell S’Well bottle comes in a larger 25 oz size for when you need a bit more room. That’s right, 25 oz., or 750 ml., or a full bottle of wine, making it the perfect way to keep your wine cool for a summer picnic!!

It’s a beautiful St. Patrick’s Day in NYC today, so while everyone is out celebrating being Irish I thought it might be a good day to introduce these cool new GREEN backpacks to y’all (they are GREEN both literally and figuratively). Not only are they good looking, each one is made from recycled plastic bottles- 20 of them go into making each backpack. Perhaps you need them to tote around that spare (?) 6 pack of Guiness or a change of clothes for the after party, these ample size backpacks will get you there in style. Eco friendly backpack- green or black, $40 each.
