Macy, above, is a new addition to the neighborhood. She joined a wonderful family that lives down the street from the shop and have been faithful customers since we opened. Macy is a rescue dog through Sugar Mutts Rescue, which is a “foster-based rescue group founded upon the core belief that all dogs are created equal.” Here’s a little excerpt from their website:
Our dogs are rescued directly from the Animal Care & Control of New York City, where thousands are euthanized every year due to lack of resources and lack of space. Although we have a particular soft spot for the dogs that are most discriminated against, we rescue all different breeds of all different ages. The majority of them are saved just in the nick of time, so choosing to adopt undoubtedly saves lives!
Macy joined her family permanently, but they also need short term Foster homes, so if you are an animal lover step up and get in touch. Sugar Mutts Rescue is based in Brooklyn, NY and was started by Amy Marciano, although I have heard about groups like this across the country, so check your own neighborhood’s resources if you are feeling inspired to help save a life like sweet Macy.
We were lucky enough to see Macy yesterday when her owner came by to pick up some more Scoopies, which are a big hit in their family! $4.75 for a box of 30. Check them out and spread the Pet-Adoption-Love too!
