Traveling this summer? Take along one of our In Flight Bags (another great pic from a fav customer)–

Going any place cool this summer? One of our favorite customers’ is– she’s on her way to Croatia as I write this! Donna Tirp is a special friend, old neighbor and great customer (her husband was our first sale- a gift certificate for his wife, via the phone since they lived in Ohio at the time). She is also a fun shopper & has excellent taste and loads up on great goodies online & in person when visiting from Cali. She sent me this pic this morning of her In Flight Bag stuffed for an exciting trip to the Island of Krk. These bags rock  (I got one as a present and loved it so much I had to get them for the shop…) TSA approved for toiletries, easy to see everything, well priced- LOAD UP! I keep mine packed and ready to go so I am always ready for last minute excursions. In Flight Bags– $8.50.

Secret Identity Day– FUN with our cool Paper Placemats on the last week of school!

One of our favorite people is a public school teacher (you may remember we have written about her before, she also volunteers for Donor’s Choose): Miss K is an amazing teacher, friend, customer, neighbor. Today is the last day of Public School in NYC and as a fun project for the end of school, she bought a set of our Paper Placemats with Secret Disguises for the class and they went nuts for SECRET IDENTITY DAY!! We need to celebrate our teachers, they are such an important part of our lives, Miss K is a great example of this. Here are some fun pics, maybe they will inspire you to be a super hero too! They will certainly liven up the Kids Table at your next Dinner Party! Kids Placemats- Secret Identity Set of 25- $28.

Insights from the Intern: America the Colorful!

Eek! Walked in the store this morning and saw THESE new lovely USA Posters — just in time for the Olympics and just in time for my own personal gushing. The finish on the poster is like on a photograph and the colors totally jump out at you. I can see this in just about any room too, since it adds that perfect *pop* of color! These posters come cutely packaged in a tube with tissue paper which makes them easy to tote home or wrap up and give as a gift. I can’t wait to get my own and hang it up in my room at school this fall! With all the maps we have here at the store, this one is definitely my favorite! USA posters– $65.

Take Your Dog to Work Day…

Did anyone take their dog to work today? It is, after all, TAKE YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY! Did you know there was such a thing? I saw it on the news (along with several pics of pooches in police cars, hmmm…) and googled it & (sadly) it came up before Take Your Daughter to Work Day. Anyway- it’s still hilarious and completely cracks me up. I wish we had a dog to hang with us at the shop, in the meantime, it’s Friday, you survived the week- time for a Doggie Stoggie!!Doggie Cigar– $9.95. p.s. Do cats have a day too? they’d probably prefer to just stay at home & collect the paycheck…

LOVE this Amazing Market Tote

I’m totally obsessed with this Market Tote– there are so many things to love: the Woven Palm Leaves durable texture, the supple leather trim made for lazy summer days, the 2 sets of handles: one long, one short- to be carried over the shoulder or in your hands… it’s the perfect combination of fabulousness. Double Handle Market Tote– $40.

Insights from the Intern: Hooray for the Red White and Blue!

Whenever the fourth of July rolls around, I always feel my spirits lift. I can’t help but think about all the yummy food, friends and family around, parades, and of course fireworks!! There is something about the heat and the happiness that makes this holiday my favorite (and Ann’s). That being said, we really got into the spirit and just launched our Red, White and Blue collection on the web! It is jam packed full of everything you could possibly need for the perfect 4th of July party, summer/July read, or patriotic household decorations. My favorite item in the collection is probably the Lobster Letterpress Coasters. They are so funky, fun, and oh-so preppy! Also in the collection is a Sequin Patriotic Newsboy Cap. They are absolutely hilarious and I seem to chuckle every time I walk by them. They would make for great parade attire or gifts for your guests! Either way, they are sure to evoke a smile 🙂 Happy browsing! Lobster Letterpress Coasters – $14, Sequin Patriotic Newsboy Cap– $5, Red, White and Blue.

Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day!! I hope everyone enjoys the day spending time with their families on this special day. Maybe the Papas are also enjoying their Father’s Day Gifts from Annie’s too (!!!). We sold a record amount of Father’s Day Cards this year, so I thought that was a good sign! Here is a pic of Coco & her Papa. We are waiting for our Big Gorilla to come back from a trip to Denver- we miss you Papa Bear!!

Atlas of Remote Islands

This wonderful book is for travelers, adventurers, lovers of esoteric facts, and anyone who’s ever contemplated the one album they would take with them to a desert island. (BTW, I’d take Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks.)  Subtitled “Fifty Islands I Have Never Set Food on and Never Will” – the Atlas of Remote Islands is filled with fascinating facts, astounding tales of survival and exploration, and beautiful maps (so beautiful in fact that it won a German prize for most beautiful book!). Get it while you can, and while you’re at it, let us know which album you’d take to a desert island! Atlas of Remote Islands – $30.00.
