Paper New York: Build Your Own Big Apple

LOVE this new book! Each page is a do it yourself pop- out project of a NYC Landmark (20 in all). Including the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building (one of my favorite buildings in the world), Brooklyn Bridge (yeahhhh!), the Guggenheim, Citigroup Center (my Dad helped work on this building), Sony (AT&T) Building, Statue of Liberty, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Flatiron Building, MTA Subway Car, Hayden Planetarium, Whitney Museum, Woolworth Building, United Nations Building, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center Ice Rink (complete with Ice Skaters), Hot Dog Cart (what would NYC be with out Hot Dog Carts?!), Coney Island Cyclone, Central Park Carriage and a Taxi Cab. VERY FUN! Paper New York: Build Your Own Big Apple– $19.95.

Compost this! AND IF YOU ARE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, COME TRICK OR TREATING TOMORROW!!!

By special customer request we just got in a great kitchen counter-size composter! Start making your own compost straight away by collecting all your organic waste. Comes with Carbon Filter that significantly reduces any organic smells (we also have extra filters sold separately) which is a much nicer way of collecting it all that I grew up with. We would have a (smelly) little trashcan on the countertop, um- no filters, no nothing- just good old rotting food. Rob always says I grew up living “off the grid” before there was even a grid! Anyway, this is a very good looking composter that will fit nicely on your counter (11″ high) to get you started on your merry composting way!! Composter– $24, Carbon Replacement Filters– $13.50.

And IF YOU ARE IN THE ‘HOOD TOMORROW (10/31) PLEASE COME BY FOR TRICK OR TREATING!! WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE EVERYONE’S COSTUMES AND HAVE LOTS OF CANDY FOR EVERYONE WHO COMES IN DRESSED UP!!!

Startling Statistics…

It’s time to get serious for a minute (just a minute!). October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I read some startling statistics in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness flyers floating around– EVERY 69 SECONDS, a woman DIES of breast cancer (that is like every minute!). Breast Cancer will strike 1.3 million women this year and kill almost 500,000, making it the leading cancer killer of women worldwide (info from komen.org). Personally I have had 2 family members die of this awful disease and I just want everyone to remember to HUG your loved ones, SHOW them you LOVE them and do what you can to help prevent this and other cancers from taking over. Spread the love my friends!
