Crumple and Go!!

Crumpled City Map New York, $21.95

Sometimes a product comes along that makes you think, “why did it take us so long to come up with this?”. The difficulty in refolding maps has long been the source of frustration. Now FINALLY  someone has come up with a solution. Forget refolding. Just crumple. Or fold it any way you want. Hell, make it into a hat if you want. Plus there’s no worry of tearing–it’s made from Tyvek, a nearly indestructible fabric. Crumpled City Maps even come in a gift box with a draw-string pouch for storing the map after each use. You Need This Tea Kettle…..

Glass Kettle Teapot, $85

And so do I. My grandmother was born in China to Scandinavian missionaries. When I was a kid I thought that made me part Chinese (hey, I was young).  I may not be the ultimate fusion of Oriental tradition and Scandinavian Modernism, but this thing sure is. It’s the ultimate in beauty and brains. The 1.5L glass kettle/tea pot goes from the stove top to table top with the inclusion of an egg-shaped infuser on a heat safe silicone string. We are one, this tea kettle and I. It wants to come home with me, and keep me warm in the cold winter months to come. It wants to greet me at the door with a hot toddy after I’ve slogged through the snow. It wants to do that for you, too. So go ahead. Don’t fight it.

The Great Lunch Challenge of 2011 by Megan

Earlier this month, with the advent of fall I  embarked on the Great Lunch Challenge of 2011 in which I am packing own lunch every week day – both to be healthier and to save money.  With this commitment came the problem of figuring out how to transport my lunch.  Since I often bring leftovers I need something that can go in the microwave and most conventional plastic isn’t supposed to, and given all the recent brouhaha over its toxicity I wanted something fully BPA-free.  Also, isn’t it the worst to actually bring a lunch and then realize you forgot a fork?

Enter the Bento Box!  This fantastic container can go in both the microwave and dishwasher, is BPA-free, and has a handy matching fork that attaches to the outside.  Also, there’s a removable divider in case you want to separate dishes and a sauce holder (perfect for when I had a salad for lunch on Wednesday).  Does it get any better than this?

Ardent Supporters of Adhesive Paper and Aggresive Note Passing!

I wish I could take credit for this slogan but I have to give credit to the oh-so-witty folks at Knock Knock. These Cubicle Notes are so funny!! They make a great gift, but you’ll want some for your own desk, too. We have three styles, and each pack comes with two different sticky note pads with clever multiple choice messages. Check them all out!

New Storage Pouches!!

Our brilliant Proud Parent Pouches are now in two new styles! We love the Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade versions, but these are so much more versatile. They’re great for any age child, or even adults! With the sturdy grommet you can hang the pouch on a wall to show off your child’s achievements, or store it flat in a box. I’ve been in a major organization and downsizing mood lately, and I think these are necessary for my future happiness. I have tons of old papers that need to be organized. These are perfect–I’ll pop the grommet over a hanger and stash it in the back of my closet. This way it’s taking up virtually no space, and can be easily accessed to add more mementos. Oh, the joy of a clean closet!!!

It’s Fall, Y’all!!!

It’s in the air. The temperature has dropped drastically in the last week and I can hardly wait for the leaves to change color and start dropping. To celebrate we’re highlighting this classic 1968 New Yorker cover by Arthur Getz. Getz was the most prolific cover artist for the New Yorker, creating over 200 images over a 50 year period. This print is available framed and as a greeting card (in store only). Happy Fall!!!!
